Pickwick Consulting
Weald Business Solutions (WBS) is pleased to announce that they have
agreed a strategic alliance with the Buckinghamshire based performance
improvement company Pickwick Consulting Limited (PCL).
Both companies provide lean, performance improvement, cost management, and sourcing solutions across all industry sectors, with WBS particularly specialising in the manufacturing and engineering arenas and PCL in retail, service, supply chain and logistics sectors.
Phil Edwards of WBS says, “WBS and PCL have cooperated at arms length in the past, so both parties know each others business and people, but this new agreement will allow us to focus on combined service development and added value opportunities for clients and extend our operational area to cover all business from the south coast up to the north midlands.”
Phil Pickwick, Managing Director of PCL adds, the new alliance adds new skill-sets to the WBS portfolio offering clients fully trained expertise including transport (CPC), project management (Prince 2 & Prince 2009) and work study/management services/performance improvement (Dip in Management services) as well as access to a network of multi-skilled senior associates with a combined senior experience of over 600 years.

Silver Birch Group
Phil Edwards and Frederiek Chatfield have launched a joint venture -
Silver Birch Group. They are combining their skills in delivering practical
solutions in lean, process improvement, and supply chain management,
along with training and workshops in personnel and leadership development.
The new business is taking the lessons learnt from manufacturing and retailing into the public sector, with a few simple, but critical changes, to fit the different demands of the service sector.
Phil explained “we are all aware of companies that have revolutionised
their business – driving out waste, improving quality, cutting
response times, and putting the customer first – and we know the
methods they use can achieve the same results in the public sector”.
Frederiek added “most importantly, our approach is to empower the
staff with knowledge to take back to the workplace and uncover inefficiency
in the systems they deal with every day. It’s nearly always the front-line
staff who are best equipped to redesign the way they work, as they are
the ones who suffer daily with the frustration of processes that are
ineffective or require a lot of rework!”
Weald EV
A new venture, launched at the start of 2010, will showcase the design,
engineering and manufacturing talents of Weald Business Solutions.
Not content with solving other peoples engineering and manufacturing issues, we like to maintain some hands-on involvement to make sure we are keeping up to date with industry – particularly the low-volume high-technology sectors that we specialise in.
So, with that in mind we can reveal that we are embarking on a project to design and manufacture an electric-powered motorcycle. To properly test the technology and learn lessons under the toughest circumstances the prototype will start out being tested in drag racing.
